What one round asks you to do
A Makeup Mania round is a short timed build in three parts: draw the makeup on the vanity canvas, style the hair and the 3D lashes in Style Studio, and walk the runway while the rest of the room rates the look. Ten players share a dressing room, and the styling window runs about 300 seconds before the runway opens.
This tutorial follows one round in the order you actually play it, so you can keep the game open beside it. If Freeplay is on your screen, use it for the first pass: it has no timer, no runway and no reward, so nothing is at stake while you learn where the controls are.
Step 1: Find Mirror Mode and Undo before you draw
Two controls decide how the rest of the round goes, and both are worth locating before your first stroke.
- Mirror Mode copies what you draw on one side of the face onto the other. Switch it on before you touch a brow or an eye and you only have to draw half the face. Switch it off later for anything that should be one-sided, such as a single beauty mark.
- Undo takes back the stroke you just made. Clear wipes the canvas. Find both now: a player who has to hunt for Undo mid-round loses the time they saved everywhere else.
If a timer is already running while you read this, finish the first attempt in Freeplay instead.
Step 2: Set the eye colour, then block the base
The temptation is to start with the detail you care about. Start with the parts that change the whole face instead, because they decide whether that detail reads at all.
- Lay the base. Pick the skin tint and cover the face evenly so it reads under the stage lights.
- Choose the eye colour. It opens a panel of its own rather than switching a brush, and it changes the whole look in one click. Settling it now saves repainting the eyeshadow around it. Apply the shade from the panel before you leave it.
- Block the eyes and the lips. One eyeshadow shade, one lip colour. Two shades are enough at this stage: this pass is for seeing the shape of the face, not finishing it.
Step 3: Turn the head before you draw the liner
Wings drawn from straight ahead come out wobbly. Rotate your avatar to a side-on view first, then draw outward towards the temple in one stroke. The liner is the part of a look that suffers most from a front-facing canvas, and the part the runway camera picks up first.
Correct as you go rather than at the end: Undo for the stroke you just made, the blender tool to soften a line that came out too hard, and Clear only when you mean to start the canvas again.
Want the whole control set? The brush and palette guide covers brush size, strength, mirror mode and freehand brows.
Step 4: Style the hair and the 3D lashes in Style Studio
Hair and lashes are not painted with the brush. They are items you try on or buy in a panel called Style Studio, which opens separately from the makeup toolbar.
- Open Style Studio and pick a category. The tabs read Hair, Lashes and Face Extras, so lashes are not filed under the eyeshadow palette or the eyebrow brush.
- Search or scroll for the item you want. Each row offers a free try-on, and the rows for items you do not own carry a Robux price.
- Fit the item with Adjust Fit. Size, left and right, height, and the in and out depth that stops a lash band from sinking into the eye area. Change one control at a time and look at the result before the next one. Reset to default fit puts the item back where it started, and Remove hair takes it off without going back through the list.
One clash to plan around: brows and lashes share a single accessory slot, so equipping one takes the other off. When the theme is about the brows, keep the brows; when it is about the eye shape, keep the lashes. Painted brows are the route to try when a theme needs both.
The hair and lashes guide walks the panel, the shared slot and the pass prices in full, and the Style Studio planner lets you line up a style before the round starts.
Step 5: Walk the runway and read your stars
When the styling window closes, the round moves to the catwalk: each player walks in turn and the rest of the room rates the look from one to five stars.
- The camera opens tight on the face. The first seconds of your walk are the closest look the room gets, so trigger a face-forward pose as you come out.
- Contrast and a finished head read better than an unfinished face. A simple look that is complete beats an ambitious one that stopped halfway.
- Read the number you get, then change one thing next round. One controlled change teaches you more than rebuilding everything at once.
When your first round goes wrong
| Symptom | What to check first |
|---|---|
| The lash band floats off the eye, or disappears when you zoom out | Go back into Adjust Fit and move the item one step closer with the in and out control, so it sits outside the face rather than inside it |
| The two wings do not match | Turn Mirror Mode on before the next stroke instead of redrawing the other side by hand |
| Hair hides the makeup you just drew | Swap the style on the Hair tab, or take it off with Remove hair while you finish the face |
| A brow item removed the lashes | Expected: brows and lashes share one slot. Decide which of the two the theme actually needs |
| The face was still unfinished when the runway opened | Spend one round in Freeplay to learn Mirror Mode, Undo and the Style Studio tab, then come back to a timed round |
| The game will not let you join at all | Read the access message the game page shows your account, then follow the account-settings route in the beginner guide |
