Styling Round

A Makeup Mania round runs in one order: the theme is announced, everyone styles a look, the runway walk happens, the other players vote on it, and the round pays out. A server holds 10 players, and the styling stage is reported to last 300 seconds.

The order a round actually runs in

The round is a single line, and nothing in it is optional. The theme is announced first, and that announcement is the only part of the round you have to react to rather than prepare for. You then style a look against the announced theme, walk the runway in that look, and get scored by the other players in the room. The payout closes the round and feeds the next one, because the currency you earn is what unlocks more colours and styles. If you are reading this before your first round, the [[beginner guide|/guides/beginner-guide]] follows the same order with the actions attached to each stage.

Styling: the stage where the round is decided

Styling is where a round is won or lost, and it is the stage with a clock on it. The reported limit is 300 seconds, which is player-reported rather than published, so treat it as the number to plan around rather than a number to trust to the second. The practical consequence does not depend on the exact figure: styling is a fixed window, so the order you do things in matters more than the total time. Finishing a simple look inside the window beats starting an elaborate one and running out of time with the face half done.

The runway and the vote: what the other nine players see

Voting is done by the other players in the room, not by the game, which is why presentation carries as much weight as technique. Ten-player rooms mean nine people scoring your look from a moving camera, and the reported scale is 1 to 5 stars per voter. Two consequences follow. First, contrast survives the runway camera and subtlety does not, so a low-contrast look can read as unfinished to someone watching at distance. Second, because the same nine people are also being scored by you, a hostile vote is a room-level problem rather than a judgement of your look. The [[runway guide|/guides/runway-and-voting]] covers the camera and lighting side in detail.

The payout, and which numbers are unpublished

The round pays currency, the vote drives how much, and a podium finish is reported to pay more than finishing mid-table. What is not published is the formula: nobody outside the development team has shown the coefficients, so this page does not print a cash-per-star figure and no calculator on this site is built on one. That matters when you are deciding whether to buy anything, because a purchase justified by an unpublished payout rate is a guess. Buy a pass for the feature it unlocks, not for the rate it might add.
