What is confirmed, disputed, and unverifiable
- Confirmed, by the developer's own message: the thumbnail was AI. The message shown in the developer's statement video reads While the thumbnail is AI … I spent hours on end scripting. It does not say which thumbnail, and the cover this site read on 3 November 2026 is a signed illustration; whether that is the image the message means is not stated.
- Disputed: that the game is made with AI in the sense players mean — generated code, generated interface, a game assembled without a developer. The developer denies the scripting half. The person who posted the first TikTok later added a note that they meant AI was definitely used, not that the whole game was AI.
- Not checkable from outside: whether any script, interface element or newer artwork was AI-assisted. There is no public commit history, no asset manifest and no statement from Roblox about this game. This page does not fill that gap with an opinion.
What none of it changes is what you do after you press Play. The makeup on the face is drawn by the player with brush tools, and that is the part this site has footage of.
The claims in date order
- 4 October 2026 — the accusation. A Roblox developer promoting an unreleased makeup game posts a TikTok about Makeup Mania and AI; the 15 October explainer below summarises the claim in its own description as the game is 100% AI generated. A note on the same post reads: Note - I meant 100% a fact AI was used! Not that the game is entirely AI. Both are shown in that explainer; this site did not open the TikTok itself, so the note is the only wording it can quote from the post.
- Before 15 October 2026 — the developer's reply. A statement is posted from the TikTok account Zowjeka, which presents itself in the message as the game's developer (“my game”). It shows a direct message to the accusing account that concedes the AI thumbnail and insists the scripting was done by hand. The same conversation continues with a warning about slander and defamation.
- 15 October 2026 — the explainer. Punkshroom publishes Is This New Roblox Game AI? | Makeup Mania, 19 minutes 28 seconds. It replays the accusation and the reply, interviews two anonymous developers who disagree with each other about whether the code can be judged from the outside, and ends by asking Roblox for a “contains AI” label like the one Steam has. At this site's read on 3 November it had 85,983 views.
- 19 October 2026 — a second accuser. The developer of the Roblox game IT GIRL posts on X that a game made completely by AI should own it instead of denying it, names Makeup Mania, and says IT GIRL is 100% handmade. X showed 15,000 views on the post when this site read it on 3 November.
- 3 November 2026 — the state of the listing. The competition place still returns a record: build dated 25 October 2026, price 0. The all-ages place returns a build dated 22 October 2026. One signed-out search read returned 40 results with the all-ages listing second and 610 players on it. The game the posts are about is still there.
What the developer's message actually says
The direct message appears in the developer's own statement video, which the 15 October explainer shows at 09:30. Written from the account Zowjeka to the accusing account, it reads:
Hi! I'd appreciate if you didn't defame my game on your TikTok. While the thumbnail is AI and the current layout isn't as polished as it will be as the games in Beta … I spent hours on end scripting. Especially if you're doing this to promote your unreleased game - it's wrong on so many levels. Thank you!
That is one person's account, on a screenshot, inside a third party's video. This site can read the words; it cannot confirm the screenshot was not edited, and it does not treat the message as a statement to Roblox or to players generally. What it does establish is narrower and still useful: the person answering for the game did not claim that no AI was used anywhere. They separated the thumbnail from the scripting.
What this site could check for itself
These are the parts that can be read off public surfaces, with the date each was read.
- The current cover carries a signature. The 768x432 experience thumbnail read on 3 November 2026 is an illustrated composition — glitter wordmark, bow, a drawn face holding a brush — and the lower-left corner holds a signature that reads Milenakuh with a heart when zoomed. A signature is evidence that someone signed the file; it is not proof of how the rest of the image was made.
- The square icon is a crop of the same art. The 512x512 icon read the same day shows the wordmark and the face without the corner signature, which is what a crop does.
- The store text makes no AI claim either way. The competition listing's description read on 3 November 2026 describes themed rounds, voting and rewards, calls the game First freehand makeup game on Roblox!, and credits a lash creator. It does not mention AI, tools or a production method.
- The played game is hand-drawn. In the footage this site has checked, a round gives you a brush panel with size, strength and softness sliders, a colour palette, layers, a mirror toggle and a blender, and the finished face is what the player put there. The brush guide documents those controls off frames, and the first-round tutorial walks the same loop.
- The game is live and free to enter. Both places return records with a build date and price 0 on 3 November 2026, and the all-ages listing showed 610 players in the one search read that returned results that minute. Nothing about the dispute has taken the game offline.
What nobody outside the project can check
- Whether the code was written with AI. There is no public repository to inspect, and the 15 October explainer's two developers disagree about whether an interface can even be a tell. One calls the layout AI-looking; the other says a rough interface is just as likely to be one person learning.
- Whether the newer cover art is entirely hand-made. A signature supports a human author being involved. It does not settle the rest of the file, and this site is not going to read a brushstroke like a fingerprint.
- Whether the screenshot is authentic. It is a phone screenshot inside a video, not a public post with a timestamp.
- What either side said in full. The original TikToks were not opened for this page; the quotes above come from the 15 October explainer's frames, and the X post was read directly.
If you are about to play
Nothing in the gameplay or the store changes because of this dispute: the round loop, the four passes at 399, 199, 149 and 99 Robux (all four still on sale, read 3 November 2026), the lash station and the 16+ record on the competition listing are all as they were, and the pass guide and age guide cover them with their own dates. If a video brought you here and you are not sure which game is on your screen, the listing check settles that in three steps.
The honest summary for a player: the developer has admitted an AI thumbnail and denies AI-written code, nobody outside the project can settle the second half, and the part you actually spend your evening on — drawing a face under a theme prompt — is manual work by design.
